We’re proud to announce that we have been awarded NHS Veteran Aware re-accreditation by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA) in recognition of our work to provide the best possible healthcare and support to veterans and their families.

This five-year accreditation shows that we’re committed to providing:
- better health and wellbeing for the whole of the Armed Forces community,
- a more joined-up experience of care for serving personnel and their families as they move around the country and transition from service to civilian life,
- faster and more local access to high quality, personalised care for the Armed Forces community and
Being awarded re-accreditation is a major milestone in our five-year Armed Forces strategy and is the latest achievement in our on-going work to support the Armed Forces community. We were recently highly commended for two Step into Health awards, which recognise those who have gone above and beyond to help those taking the step from the Armed Forces community into the NHS.
Earlier this year our Armed Forces team supported the launch of a new series of NHS Armed Forces Suicide Bereavement Support guides. We’ve also received a recognition award from the NHS Veteran Aware team for our work with the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance.
This year we also celebrated the first anniversary of the re-commissioning of our flagship Op COURAGE mental health service for military veterans. The team, along with our partners from Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and support from the Walking with the Wounded charity, has supported over 1,000 members of the Armed Forces community across the Southeast over the past year.
Supporting Veterans Healthcare
If you or your spouse or partner has ever served in the armed forces, please let us know so we can help you get the care you need, including any veteran specific services that could help.
Veterans can get priority treatment for ongoing health issues associated with their time in the military (such as hearing loss, mobility issues or mental health problems). However this is based on clinical need and emergency cases or those with a higher clinical need would still need to take priority.
