GP/Health professionals referrals

Information for GPs and other health or care professionals

It's important that people are ready to engage in therapy in order to get the most out of their treatment. This is why we expect most patients to refer themselves NHS Talking Therapies by completing our online self referral form, or by phone by calling our referrals team on 0300 365 2000.

If your patient is unable to refer themselves due to language barriers or a disability, you can refer them for treatment, with their permission.

Please let us know that they are unable to do this and give us as much information as possible about their clinical presentation so that we can understand their needs, including their risk and suitability for our service, and provide the most appropriate support.

You can also contact us to discuss your patient's needs, and confirm that NHS Talking Therapies is the most appropriate treatment for them.

If we believe another service is more suitable we may recommend this to you before accepting them for an assessment.
